Modest Mike's Mods
Modest Mike's CE-2, CE-3, or CE-5 Mod ($59.99)
There are actually two CE-5 pedals out there. Or should I say there is the analog CE-5, and the newer digital CE-5A. Just looking at the pedals, it's not easy to tell these two apart. The newer digital CE-5A uses the newer surface mount technology. The digital CE-5A went into production in October 2001. It has a dark gray label on the back.

Our mod will give your CE-2, CE-3, or analog CE-5 a full, organic, chorus sound. You get an increased amount of available speeds and of course we replace the LED, so now your pedal's LED is a very noticeable blue!
For the CE-2 and CE-5 we also install a toggle switch to your pedal that gives you a neat sound using the effects side only called a “simple vibrato mod.” (The CE-3 already has this mod)
This switch kills the dry signal, leaving nothing but chorus effect.
It's a fun effect to play with. If you do some googling you will find videos of this effect on youtube.
A lot of musicians feel there is a noticeable drop in volume when switching from bypass side to the effects side on these pedals. For the CE-3 and CE-5 (the CE-2 does not have this problem).
So we install a second toggle switch for the stop the drop mod. This mod makes the effects level more sensitive. Just flip the switch on, and turn the "E. Level" knob to about two o'clock. Your clean sound and your chorus sound will have equal volume!
*The digital CE-5 (technically called the CE-5A) is a little more difficult to work on. But for the same price we can mod yours to include the flashing rate mod, the simple vibrato mod, and the volume drop mod.
Modest Mike's CE-2 Pedal Of The Day!
BOSS Chorus CE-2, CE-3
& Chorus Ensemble CE-5
BOSS Super Chorus CH-1
Modest Mike's CH-1 Mod ($59.99)
I have always preferred the warm, natural, vintage sound of this pedal. Most musicians love the sound of this pedal, but it has it's compromises. When the chorus effect is switched on, there is a drop in volume. Also, whenever you need to turn it up in a live situation, the sound begins to mush out get lost in the mix. Have you ever wanted a Chorus with a LOUDER output and more drive? Well, you get that with this mod. It gives you more of a natural, vintage sound. What else? We have concentrated on three areas. Our input, output and LFO changes for the analog version of this pedal give you:
MORE AVAILABLE DEPTH!!! STOP THE DROP TOGGLE SWITCH!!! FULLER SOUND!!! SIMPLE VIBRATO TOGGLE SWITCH!!!
AND OF COURSE YOU GET A BRIGHT BLUE LED!!!
And...for the digital models you get the Flashing Rate Mod!
Bill Griffin of Griffin Effects taught me this one for the CH-1. You can actually see the rate of your CH-1! The LED blinks (looks cool!) faster or slower depending on the speed of your rate. This comes in handy at night on stage. Without playing a note you can just look down and know what your rate of speed is and adjust the rate without having to play a note!
For analog and digital versions:
NO MORE VOLUME DROP! Sounds so good in stereo or mono mode! We install a toggle switch. When the toggle switch is off, levels are like on a normal CH-1. When the switch is on, you get a boost for the chorus effect. This “"wet signal boost only" mod” actually makes the Effects Level more sensitive. You simply turn the Effects Level knob to the desired level just like a volume knob. This allows you to add more or less volume if desired, giving you control over that sense of space and separation! Just flip the switch back for normal CH-1 settings. We also add a second switch for the Simple Vibrato Mod.
This switch kills the dry signal, leaving nothing but chorus effect.
It's a fun effect to play with. If you do some googling you will find videos of this effect on youtube.

Today's delays are getting better. Maybe even a little too good! The repeats are crisp and crystal clear, exactly like the original sound. Someone has worked hard to get that sound, but I’m about to tell you this is not necessarily always a good thing. The old analog delays may not have been as clear, but there was one good thing about them - the sound blended very well. The new digital delays can have such a clear repeat that it sticks out like a sore thumb.
The high cut mod takes a little treble at a time off of each repeat (cuts a little high frequency each time). This way you get the clearness of the newer delays, and the blended sound that is sorely missed from the older analog delays.
No permanent changes are made to your delay. We install a switch that will give you 3 options:
1) Just a little bit of cut on the treble of those repeating sounds (warm)
2) A little more of a cut on those high frequency sounds on the repeat (warmer)
3) Switch to the center to restore your delay to its original factory settings
...And yes, we will put in a nice bright, water clear blue LED!
Now it is a nice noticeable matching blue LED. This feature comes in handy on a dark stage. You can adjust the rate without playing a note!
BOSS Tremolo TR-2
Modest Mike's TR-2 Mod ($59.99)
Unlike some of the higher priced boutique pedals, this modded TR-2 has has that vintage, natural sound. This mod does wonders for the TR-2, and allows your guitar's sound to remain transparent.
WE FIXED THE VOLUME DROP!!! *This was the TR-2's biggest issue.
No more volume drop when you step on the pedal!
FULLER SOUND!!! LESS BACKGROUND NOISE!!!
TOGGLE SWITCH INSTALLED FOR THE SPEED CONTROL THAT ALLOWS FOR NORMAL SPEEDS TO A NEW FASTER RANGE WITH NEAR MACHINE GUN SPEEDS!!! ANOTHER TOGGLE SWITCH IS INSTALLED FOR THE WAVE CONTROL THAT GIVES A PHATTER SOUND AND ADDS AN ENTIRE SECOND RANGE FOR THE KNOB TO CONTROL!!! FLASHING LED MOD TO MATCH THE RATE!!!
YOU CAN HEAR AND SEE YOUR SPEED!!! Now it will be a nice noticeable matching blue LED. This feature comes in handy on a dark stage. You can adjust the rate without playing a note!
We also sell these pedals, refurbished and with all of the mods mentioned above!
